Privacy Policy

GoWANDR ("we", "the app") is a trip planner that turns a destination and a few preferences into a day-by-day plan on a map. This policy explains what we collect and why. We keep it short because the app collects little.

What we collect

Your trips. The plans you generate or import are stored on your own device. A trip only leaves your device if you choose to share it, at which point that plan is stored in our database so the people you share the link with can open it.
Account details. You can use GoWANDR without an account. If you sign in with Google to keep your trips, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We use them only to identify your account and show who is on a shared trip.
Waitlist email. If you ask to be notified about the mobile apps, we store the email address you enter and which platform you asked for, so we can email you when it launches.
What you plan. The destination, dates, and preferences you enter are sent to our trip-planning service to generate a plan.
Where you are — only when you ask. There are two “near me” buttons: one when you check in, which lists the places around you, and one on Find spots, which fills in the name of the city you're in. Both send your device's location once, use it for that lookup, and then discard it. We do not store it, we do not attach it to your check-in or your trip, and we do not write it to our logs. Nothing asks for your location until you tap one of those buttons, and the app never reads it in the background.

Who processes your data

We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting), Google Places (to find real locations for the places in your plan), and Google's Gemini models (to generate plans). These providers process data on our behalf. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Maps

Map tiles are served by OpenFreeMap. Navigation opens in Google Maps when you choose to navigate.

Deleting your data

In the gowandr app, you can delete an individual trip or a posted photo at any time — this permanently removes that trip or photo from our servers immediately.

To delete all of your data — your account, profile info (name and email from Google Sign-In), all trips, and all posted photos — email hello@gowandr.today from the address associated with your account, or reachable through the app, and request account deletion. We will delete all associated data within 30 days and confirm by email once complete. We do not retain any data beyond what's needed to process this request.
